Backstory
In her past life, Nava was still the wealthy only daughter of Cellini Lithe, a very outgoing and nonchalant italian man born into generations of wealth. Unlike him, she was a timid and shy child who'd disliked going to social gatherings and putting herself out there, even quiet enough that she couldn't be honest and freespirited around her father.
Her mother as well was a casual person, just friends with her father when she'd accidentally gotten pregnant. But because she actually did work to live, she entrusted Cellini with her so she could have an easy life. Still, Nava was a withdrawn and sheltered person, and even as she grew up she knew she'd miss out on many normal experiences. She was home schooled, didn't have to think about going to college or working as an adult, nor did she get along with other rich children. She felt as if she couldn't smile genuinely without it being forced.
As an adult she wasn't entirely unhappy, understanding there was a lot to be grateful for. Her father liked her company despite not understanding her fully, and his longtime friend was like a level headed father figure to Nava that she could rely on. She knew that to fulfill her personal wishes of growth, she would need to be independant, but one of the days she decided to go out to town with her family, she was caught up in a devastating sinkhole.
When Nava reappeared alongside her father in a red world, she was in another town called Alcarres rather than Vellenice. Alcarres was a fancy and festive town, and didn't have the characteristic constant red rain from Vellenice. Still, there was one creepy aspect to their town, Camminatori Notturni, ghostly apparitions that walked the streets each night.
When Nava's father first saw the ghosts, he didn't tell Nava or advise her to look outside assuming she'd be frightened, so she simply didn't know and habitually closed all the curtains by sunset. In this world, she had scars on her mouth spanning from each ear, perhaps thinking her father disliked her face and wanted to hide her. She opted to cover her face at all times, not needing to speak much anyway, and hardly went out on her own. Noting that her life was a sheltered one, perhaps moving out would benefit her in finding fulfillment in her life. So thats what she did out of the blue one day, moving to Vellenice without telling Cellini, living in Salvio's Inn as she worked at the Ciriaco Bakery.
Since living in Vellenice, Nava feels a sense of normalcy in her life. She's fascinated by everything around her, even when she's caught up in Emii's cases, but feels she's otherwise blended into the town like anyone else. Still, her savings would run out and she doesn't get paid enough to live alone, so it became time to go back to Alcarres and check on her father. Taking the Ciriaco family and Emigdio on a trip to the town, somehow she got roped into another detective case.
When Ulisse is framed for murder over a tragedy at his inn, Emii takes on the case to prove his innocence, in the meantime taking Ulisse to Nava's home. Nava's father was still getting used to having his daughter back and meeting her guests, but figured one more guest couldn't hurt considering Ulisse's circumstances. When things escalate and the culprit uses Alcarres' monsters to drive them into the town's catacombs, eventually they're caught and all returns to the usual. Through the experience, Nava becomes closer with her father and discloses her doubts, and is content enough to stay in Alcarres with him and Ulisse. While she won't see Emii for a while, the two still write to each other often and expect to run into each other when Emii has another nearby case.
