Backstory
As an infant, Olive was described as a peaceful and excitable bundle when she wasn't by herself, or while she didn't have object permanence of others in the same room. She grew up a bit sheltered in a large home within Tuscany, having to really squint her eyes to see a neighbor's home past fields of grass and cypress trees. The intent was to live somewhere safe given the experiences of her family, especially with two detectives as parents.
Sometimes her parents would leave home for days, weeks, and so on, but she's glad she can say she has countless memories of them to consider them involved enough and doting. If they weren't by her side, she still had her grandparents and uncle, always an adult to inspire and entertain her. Even so, being home most of the time, she undoubtedly wanted to venture out more. Taken into town, to festivals and holiday celebrations, it enlightened her to share the experiences with her family, but she was certain there was more beyond their radius.
Being on enough train rides with her parents, Olive had a good grasp on how to travel on her own, not that she had permission just yet. Her family still put the effort in to take her to further countries around Europe, far from Italy at times, enough material for her to learn about other cultures. Maybe, in the end, the food from Italy remains her favorite.
As she continued to grow up, her parents felt some guilt in not being able to hang out with her sometimes, so one year they came back with two pigeons for her. Training them wasn't an issue as they were originally cared for by her father's family in Spain, and they latched onto her quickly given all the time they would spend together. She didn't get to name them as they were used to Settimo and Quinto, but that wasn't an issue.
Her family assumed that having two pigeons may cause her to stay home more to care for them, but the opposite occured where her wishes to go out more were propelled by her new wish to travel with her birds. She still felt a need to see the world, and to show it to her birds as well, and no one negated that. As she continues to grow up and occasionally venture out more, Olive always has two companions with her now.
