Backstory
Giacomo grew up in the same town for all of his life, knowing most of the inhabitants since his childhood. It was as if he could tell when others were new, mostly because he used to deliver newspapers as a young boy. His family runs a post office that he's helped with for as long as he could remember. Getting the autonomy to walk around on his own as a littel boy, to talk to strangers turned friends, he was a very socialized and happy child who was hardly bored. In tow, he remembers little Rie following behind him like a little sister, both ultimately working at the post office over the years as mailbirds.
He breezed by school, didn't bother going to college as he was uncertain of a job to fix himself on. That's one thing he didn't like, that he could potentially be stuck with one career for too long, missing out on many things he won't be able to do in the future, such as traveling. Rie is a little similar, both birds that've always been in the same town for the most part. If they could travel beyond and perhaos see other countries, they'd like to do so together.
Currently he still works as a mailbird, content with his job as always. He can say with confidence that his surroundings have at least changed, the cityscapes across the river growing taller, more dazzling, with some more modernization in his town even. Of course, his resolve to see someplace new hasn't changed. Living elsewhere isn't the goal itself, knowing he's comfortable to returning home afterwards.
