Backstory
Like the other Miseries, Fericho was born in the original pandora's box in Greece, created by the Gods to be threats to humanity so humans would worship and pray more for safety. They were scapegoats, and they were parentless children brought into the world. When the box was opened by the first Pandora, all those evil Gods, Miseries, scattered as far as they could go. Fericho ventured as far as North America. Seeing what humans were like, she was a God compared to them, and figured she didn't need to extend any care to them.
During her youth alone, she got tired of gathering power if she had a long life ahead of her, so it could be put off. She preferred to watch humans and their lifestyles, walking through a particular town on her own. There was a human man with a smile, one who had a heavy heart within that Fericho could sense. Thinking she could hang around him and gather endless power, she watched him until he'd caught her looking too many times to count. He'd invite the small child over each time, thinking she was hungry around his farm, but she'd often run away for the day. Still, she'd gotten herself stuck in an animal trap one day, and he'd saved her from it.
The man took her to his home to tend to her wounds, giving her a glimpse of all the photos he had of his family. Like her, he was currently alone, so he said she could come by any time. She claimed she hated him like any other human, that she could survive on her own because she had powers, but he said that he didn't mind if his anguish was her strength. He'd lost his daughter when she was as young as Fericho, maybe he saw her in her image. Of course, he wouldn't want to project on someone different, someone not even human, but sharing company could be a good thing. He'd often remind her that no one wants to be alone, that even she needs others to become strong.
She ignored his lengthy lectures most of the time, at least pretending to, but she remembered every piece of wisdom he'd given her. She did visit him often to stare and be nosy, even if she rejected joining him in things like cooking or fully living with him. At one point, others in the town caught wind of the evil God in their land, that she'd run off to his home the most. The man who cared for her like a father was truly a holy man who shared compassion with any that came his way, but if her safety was going to be at risk this time, he would have to make a sacrifice. Unassuming, she'd come to visit him one day as usual, but he took the liberty that day to seal her in a perfume bottle once belonging to his late daughter. As he was actually a retired Pandora, he passed the sealed God to an active Pandora that could properly guard her in the Divine world. The assigned family to guard her was Sonnet's.
Fericho had never felt anguish herself until she'd met that human, that man who cared for her until he sealed her away without warning. For years, she didn't understand, choosing to sleep away her confusion if she might as well be sealed forever. By the time she was unsealed by Merikh and Pagule, two other Miseries working together to destroy humanity, she thought that idea wasn't so bad initially.
Looking at her surroundings, last in her caretaker's home, the town was wildly different after a couple generations. She'd see a grave on the land confirming that her "father" had passed away by now, thinking she wouldn't get any explanation. But, noting the passing date on his grave, he'd died the same day she was sealed. If he didn't live longer, something must have occured, perhaps he'd been killed for her sake. Piecing it together, that he'd sealed her in something important to him, she wanted to preserve the bottle. Yet, she still felt animosity towards those who'd punished him, humans turning against their own kind. Now enlisted in Merikh and Pagule's team, she had no humans left to care for, figuring the remainder of them had no right to live.
As if she was back to her old ways, Fericho was back to harming humanity. She'd work on growing her power, on helping her team look for the other Miseries to build an army of evil Gods against humans. Maybe they couldn't defeat the Gods that made them, but if they could take away their worshippers, make their faith dwindle, that would threaten their existences; a returned punishment for the Gods that created the Miseries to live ill fated lives.
The others enlisted were Blithe, Zerrin, and Elamin. Two of them shared the same disdain for humans, but the most human was Blithe, one who vowed not to hurt them even if he was forcefully brought to this group. Unlike Fericho, Blithe had a living human he was still living with, one to protect. Fericho figured she would have been the same if her loved one was still alive. Lost in her hatred of humanity, she'd forgotten she had to protect the things he loved beyond the bottle he gave her. If he loved the world, having expressed it to her many times, then she should keep it from going to ruin. As she watches Merikh and Pagule's plans unfold further, to wipe out humanity and its traces, she begins to doubt them and their wishes. If Blithe will one day betray them, then so will she.
