Backstory
Fabel was raised by a mother who was an international chef, and a stay at home father who was once a model and occasionally participated in religious events. As a child he was fairly religious in general, praying too long before bed, but perhaps he was just too worried over the girl he grew up with, Satie. The two kids grew up with parents that were friends, and for as long as he could think back on, they were both very protective of the other.
Fabel was once a shy person, now just being a casual introvert. As a kid, he was used to being scouted by model agencies because of his fathers' looks that he inherited, and Satie often detered others who only got close to him for such a shallow reason. In turn, he always watched over her given her medical condition, and since she was overall a much stronger person, he admired and had a crush on her since their childhood. Of course, expressing his love often flew over her head, so it wasn't until middle school that it was recognized as mutual. Even though he got the confirmation from her, by that point she already moved to another town for schooling. As for his school life, he was also used to being known as the kid at Satie's side. Going to school without her was strange, worrying in a way, but he still had other friends to interact with. As he continued school in their hometown, for high school, he decided to go to Sauzieu, the town where Satie was also attending school. Regardless of being in different schools for high school as well, Fabel had a good and normal school life and still got to see his girlfriend during their days off. They already agreed to move in together once they finished.
Neither intended to jump right into college, still weighing skills they'd get from experience in life. Fabel noticed a job opening as a bodyguard for a rich family, taking the entry level job which mostly just entailed being company for the family as they did errands. Working with Satie so they could learn together, they ended up getting wrapped in their bosses underground work. Their boss was a rich lady who tampered with the elite to get her way, and she saw potential in the two underlings to stir some trouble for others.
Meeting other members she had enlisted, Fabel was trained to use a gun, best suited to be a sniper whenever a politician needed some pushing or to delay their plans. Satie was much better at things like combat, but Fabel figured she wouldn't really need to do that often. If anything, she did spying or infiltration most of the time. If he wanted a more normal job, he could be a model for sure, but frankly he hated having his pictures taken and his image to be known. A low lying life seemed nicer, more self paced, and if something wild were to happen, he figured he could adjust to it better that way.
Even if his upbringing was normal, "human", the future was always an unpredictable thing. If there was magical girls running around their town, so be it, but to run across them, that was another matter. Porzellan Geist was a magical girl who didn't explicitly save others like Carambola, rather, existing for vengeance. When she met the two and Satie couldn't resist helping a former child star she recognized, Fabel went along with their plans to threaten the star's father.
As far as he could interpret from the situation, providing a sanctuary for the magical girl whenever she needed rest, he learned more about what she was; a ghost who could possess a living person like a vessel, and her vessel was a sibling named Beau she'd whisked away from her father. Technically he wouldn't have gotten himself into a familial mess, but the merit is that this is someone who Satie idolizes, and if the father of the two is the enemy, Fabel wouldn't mind messing around with another conceited wealthy person in the world. Whatever he'd done ultimately lead to Porzellan's passing, so if it can be prevented for others, he'd want to stop that.
